Synopsis
Fleeing California, Nicholas Flamel, Sophie, Josh and the warrior Scathach emerge in Paris, while Flamel’s wife Perenelle remains a prisoner on Alcatraz. Paris is full of enemies: the immortal Niccolò Machiavelli, writer and celebrated art collector, is working for Dr John Dee and plots to capture the twins, Flamel and the missing pages of the Codex before Dee can arrive from San Francisco. It is time for Sophie to learn the second elemental magic, fire, and only one man can teach it to her: Flamel’s old pupil, the alchemist, magician and rock star the Comte de Saint-Germain. As Dee and Machiavelli bring the gargoyles and statues of the city to life against them, the twins discover that they are the world’s only hope, if they do not turn on each other first.
