Synopsis
In 1983, a wealthy, dying millionaire discovers a means of genuine time travel through a series of magical gaps between eras and organizes a secretive, expensive expedition to 1810 London to hear the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge deliver a lecture. Brendan Doyle, a professor of English literature hired as a Coleridge expert to guide and narrate the trip for the paying time-tourists, finds himself unexpectedly stranded in the nineteenth century when the return gate closes without him, then kidnapped by a sorcerer with designs that have nothing to do with Coleridge at all. Cut off from any easy way home, Doyle must navigate a dangerous underworld of body-swapping magicians, organized beggars and Regency-era criminals while trying to find a way back to his own time.
