Synopsis
Having reached Little Fordham, the miniature model village that seemed to promise an ideal sanctuary scaled perfectly to their size, the Clock family soon finds their new home threatened by the Platters, the human couple who operate a rival model village and come to see the Borrowers as a valuable and exploitable discovery. Arrietty, Pod and Homily are captured and imprisoned on display in an attic belonging to the Platters, cut off from the freedom and community they had only just begun to enjoy. Aided by two sympathetic humans, Mr. Pott and Miss Menzies, who take an interest in their welfare, the family must rely on ingenuity rather than direct confrontation to plan an escape from their captors. Their ordeal ultimately forces them to abandon the sanctuary of Little Fordham altogether and resume their search for a lasting, permanent home elsewhere.
