Synopsis
The third and final book in the trilogy finds Rin betrayed by the ruling House of Yin after the events of the previous novel, forcing her to flee with her companions Kitay and Venka rather than remain under its authority. The three take refuge with the Southern Coalition, a resistance movement fighting both the Nikan Republic's leadership and its powerful Hesperian allies, and Rin steps into a leading role in its military campaign to liberate her home region from occupation. Balancing her responsibilities as a commander against the still-unpredictable power of the Phoenix and the compromises war demands of its leaders, Rin pushes further into a conflict whose costs keep multiplying.
