Synopsis

The Burning Maze is the third book in The Trials of Apollo series. Still trapped in his weak mortal form as Lester Papadopoulos, Apollo and his young companion Meg McCaffrey set out to find the third of the immortal Roman emperors behind the sinister Triumvirate Holdings, whose members have each seized a piece of the world's remaining oracular power. Their search leads them into the American Southwest and back into the twisting passages of the Labyrinth, where they must free an Oracle who communicates only in cryptic word puzzles, a task complicated by the region's simmering political unrest among its magical inhabitants. Joined by fellow demigods from Camp Half-Blood, Apollo and Meg must navigate the Labyrinth's dangers and a hostile local power struggle at once, all while Apollo grows increasingly aware of how little of his old godly confidence remains to help them succeed.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
