Synopsis
A collection of four linked novellas following the hard-drinking sellsword Wydrin of Crosshaven and her steadfast companion Sir Sebastian, a disgraced knight of a holy order, who are hired by a crippled nobleman, Lord Frith, to explore the dark, half-forgotten depths of an ancient citadel called the Citadel of the Werken. Frith has his own bitter reasons for the expedition, tied to the destruction of his family and lands, and his single-minded pursuit of vengeance against those responsible pulls Wydrin and Sebastian into far greater danger than a simple job for coin. As the trio descends through the citadel's ruined levels, they discover long-buried powers that were never meant to be disturbed, powers that could threaten far more than the three of them if roused.
