Jen Williams is a British fantasy novelist and short story writer, born Jennifer Williams in London, who now lives in Bristol. She has been publishing fiction since 2014 and has since expanded from fantasy into crime writing. Williams co-founded the Super Relaxed Fantasy Club with fellow author Den Patrick, a recurring social gathering for fantasy readers and writers in London. Her major fantasy work includes The Copper Promise series (2014–2016), the Winnowing Flame trilogy (2017–2019), and the Talon Duology (2023–2024), alongside a foray into crime fiction with novels such as The Hungry Dark (2024) and a forthcoming young-adult romantasy titled The Sleepless. Williams has been shortlisted for the British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel three years running from 2015 to 2017, and won the award twice outright, for The Ninth Rain in 2018 and The Bitter Twins in 2019, before winning again in 2024 for Talon Sister. Her sustained critical success across multiple trilogies has established her as one of contemporary British fantasy's most decorated authors, and she continues to write across both fantasy and crime while remaining active in the UK genre-fiction community through conventions and the fan club she co-founded.
