Synopsis
The Ninth Rain opens in a world where the once-glittering city of Ebora has fallen into ruin, its immortal people dwindling and its streets patrolled by wolves. Tormalin the Oathless, an Eboran who has turned his back on his dying homeland, takes work escorting the eccentric human explorer Lady Vincenza "Vintage" de Grazon on her expeditions to recover ancient artefacts. Their path crosses that of Noon, a fugitive fire-witch fleeing the order that has hunted people of her kind. As the three travel together investigating relics of a lost civilization, they are drawn deeper into a conspiracy tied to the coming return of the Jure'lia, an ancient enemy whose earlier invasion devastated Ebora generations before, and whose reappearance threatens to unravel the fragile peace of the present-day world.
