Synopsis
The Desert Spear is the second novel in the Demon Cycle, set on a world where nightfall brings ravenous demons that force a dwindling humanity to shelter behind protective wards. It opens by tracing the earlier life of Ahmann Jardir, the desert warrior who has united the fractious Krasian tribes into a disciplined demon-fighting army and now proclaims himself the Deliverer, the prophesied savior of mankind, wielding ancient relic weapons that seem to confirm his claim. His rise puts him on a collision course with his former friend Arlen Bales, known in the north as the Warded Man, whom Jardir's people instead see as a rival claimant to the same legend.
