Synopsis
The Field Guide opens as siblings Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace move with their mother into the run-down, long-neglected Spiderwick Estate following their parents' divorce, a fresh start none of the children particularly wanted. Exploring the house's overlooked corners, Jared discovers a hidden, handmade field guide tucked away in the attic, left behind by their ancestor Arthur Spiderwick, describing in careful detail a hidden world of faeries and other magical creatures said to exist alongside the ordinary human one. As Jared begins to suspect the guide's contents are more than mere fiction, strange occurrences around the estate suggest that whatever Arthur Spiderwick once encountered there may not have stayed safely confined to the pages of his book.
