Synopsis

The Frozen Menace, the eleventh Dragonbreath book, opens with Danny Dragonbreath in an alarming predicament after his fire-breathing ability mysteriously stops working, leaving him dangerously vulnerable to the cold. Acting on guidance from his great-grandfather, Danny sets out toward the far north with his friends Wendell and Christiana in search of a rare magical ingredient rumored to be able to restore his flame before the cold becomes a real threat to his life. Along the way the group has to contend with a series of hazards, including a treacherous windy bridge, killer ice worms, and an unexpectedly confused baby phoenix, all while racing to find the cure before Danny's condition worsens.

Notes

  • From the series record (Dragonbreath): Eleven-volume illustrated middle-grade chapter-book series (Dial Books, 2009-2016) following Danny Dragonbreath, a talking dragon attending a school otherwise full of reptiles and amphibians, whose comic misadventures regularly involve genuine magical creatures and events (fairies, were-creatures, ghosts, curses). Author-illustrated throughout; every volume mixes prose chapters with full-page comic-style illustrated sequences. Confirmed traditionally published from first release, not web-serialized.
