Synopsis

This is the second novel in the Fairyland series, picking up after September's first journey to the magical land beyond the sea. Having returned to the ordinary world, September finds herself pulled back to Fairyland, this time descending into Fairyland-Below, a shadow-realm beneath the surface where the region's forgotten and discarded selves live. Her goal is to find and reunite with Halloween, the living shadow she was separated from during her earlier adventure, who has become a powerful and troubling ruler of this underworld in her own right. As September explores this inverted, carnival-like domain and its Revels, she meets new allies and faces choices about identity, loss and belonging that put her friendships, and Fairyland-Below's fragile order, at risk. The novel expands the series' whimsical, folklore-steeped world established in its predecessor.
