Synopsis
In this fifth and concluding volume of the Fairyland series, September returns to a Fairyland that unexpectedly names her its Queen, a title she never sought and one that immediately draws rival claimants out of the woodwork. Rather than settling the succession through combat or council, Fairyland's tradition calls for a Royal Race to determine who has the truest claim to the crown, and September finds herself compelled to compete against other hopefuls, some sincere and some self-interested, across the land's fantastical terrain. Old companions and new figures from her earlier adventures reappear along the way as the race tests her resourcefulness, her sense of fairness and her feelings about ruling a place she loves but never expected to govern. The race's outcome will determine who wears Fairyland's crown going forward.
