Synopsis
Kate and Tom are now fully qualified conductors on the Great Secret Intercontinental Railway, a steam-powered network that carries animals to safety. Their uncle Herbert has disappeared, and a worsening climate means more animals need help. Kate has troubles at home too: she did not win the lead in her junior high musical and ended up in the chorus, while her rival Jag was cast as the star. Desperate, she breaks the rules and takes the Silver Arrow on an unauthorized mission to find her uncle and restore balance. She learns that another train, the mysterious Golden Swift, is running on the railway with goals of its own. Her journey runs from the Scottish Highlands to the Australian outback and the Bering Sea floor.
