Synopsis
Set in nineteenth-century England, this first volume of the Hollow Kingdom Trilogy introduces orphaned sisters Kate and Emily Winslow, who go to live with relatives at Hallow Hill, the family estate they stand to inherit. Kate soon draws the attention of Marak, king of a hidden underground goblin kingdom beneath the estate, who has long sought a human bride. To protect her sister from a scheming cousin, Kate agrees to marry Marak and descends into his subterranean realm, where she must adjust to goblin customs and society while a magical curse threatens the wellbeing of Marak's people, drawing her deeper into the politics and dangers of her new home.
