Synopsis
Close Kin, the second book in Clare B. Dunkle's Hollow Kingdom trilogy, is set some years after the first novel and follows Emily and the goblin-raised Seylin. When Emily fails to respond to a marriage proposal, Seylin sets off to find his own people, the elves, and Emily follows him on a journey that uncovers hidden prejudices between the goblin and elf worlds. Seylin, who appears elvish despite his goblin upbringing, must confront the elves' mistreatment of their own kind, including the abused elf Sable and the tribe's leader Thorn, while Emily navigates her place between two very different societies and the misunderstandings that have kept them apart.
