Synopsis
The Lair of Bones follows Gaborn as he undertakes a perilous descent into the underworld to confront the One True Master, ruler of the monstrous, subterranean Reavers whose forces have begun overrunning the human kingdoms above. With mankind's survival hanging on the outcome of this confrontation, Gaborn must rely on both his hard-won endowments and the emerging prophetic sense that has set him apart since the earlier novels. While Gaborn presses into the underworld, his allies are left to defend the city of Carris against an overwhelming Reaver invasion threatening to overwhelm its defenses before he can return. The novel brings the series' long-building conflict between humanity and the Reavers to a decisive confrontation, testing both Gaborn's growing powers and the loyalty of those he has sworn to protect.
