Synopsis

Investigator Kembral Thorne is enjoying a rare night off at a glittering year-turning party when guests begin dropping dead one after another, and a mysterious antique clock starts sending everyone at the gathering plunging down through nightmarish alternate layers of reality, called Echoes, each time it chimes. As the deaths mount and the partygoers are trapped cycling deeper into increasingly dangerous and distorted versions of the same night, Kem must set aside her usual methodical approach and team up with her old nemesis, the notorious and infuriatingly charming cat burglar Rika Nonesuch, if either of them hopes to see the party, and the ordinary world beyond it, again. To save her city from whatever set the deadly clock in motion, Kem has to solve a murder mystery that keeps resetting itself, working against a partner she has every reason not to trust.
