Synopsis

The Liar's Knot is the second novel in the Rook & Rose trilogy, continuing directly from the first book as the con artist Ren, the masked vigilante known as the Rook, and the crime lord Derossi Vargo find themselves pushed toward working together to protect the city of Nadezra from a spreading, insidious dark magic. Their uneasy alliance is complicated by the fact that each of them is concealing important parts of their identity and their goals from the others, so that trust becomes as dangerous to extend as it is necessary for survival. As political intrigue among the city's noble houses and hidden societies deepens around them, the three have to decide how much of themselves they can risk revealing in order to counter the magical threat building beneath Nadezra's streets.
