Synopsis

The Lord-Protector's Daughter follows Mykella, eldest child of the Lord-Protector of Lanachrona, who has so far avoided being married off by making herself useful in overseeing her father's treasury. Her position of apparent privilege carries little real authority, and that imbalance becomes dangerous when she discovers evidence that funds are being embezzled from the treasury under her nose. Her investigation draws the attention of an ancient being called a Soarer, who guides her to a hidden stone table concealed within the palace and hints that her own latent psionic abilities will be needed to make sense of what she finds. As Mykella works to identify who is behind the theft, she uncovers a wider conspiracy threatening her father and her family, and nearly every step she takes to expose it seems to provoke further deaths, poisonings and political maneuvering against her.
