Synopsis

Identical twins Iris and Lark have always done better together. When they start fifth grade in different classrooms with different teachers and activities, both struggle with their first real separation. Iris, who has watched over her sister through illnesses, is unwilling to let go of that protective role. At the same time odd things are happening in their Minneapolis neighborhood: art is being stolen, the owner of a local antiques shop is carrying out strange experiments, and a monster is said to be loose. Iris becomes determined to keep Lark safe and starts to look into the disappearances, drawing on fairy-tale logic as everyday life and fantasy begin to overlap.
