Synopsis

The concluding novel of the Burning Kingdoms trilogy, following Malini and Priya as their fates and the fate of their empire reach a climax. With Malini's claim to power and Priya's magical inheritance both fully in play, the two women must reckon with the cost of the choices made across the previous two books as their empire's political and magical crises come to a head. Old allies and enemies alike are drawn into the final struggle over who will rule and what kind of order, if any, will emerge from the conflict that has consumed the trilogy. First published in 2024, The Lotus Empire belongs to the The Jasmine Throne / Burning Kingdoms series.

Awards (verified)

  • Hugo Award (Best Series), 2025: nominated; Series-level nomination for The Burning Kingdoms as a whole.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Burning Kingdoms): Core Canon = all 3 novels of the completed trilogy (Orbit, 2021-2024). No companion/Expanded Canon material found. Confirmed separate from Suri's earlier Empire of Sand / Realm of Ash duology (Books of Ambha, not admitted to this canon) -- different world, different characters, no shared continuity per sfadb's own separate awards listing for each series.
