Synopsis
The Memory of Souls continues A Chorus of Dragons with the city of Atrine left in ruins and the wizard Relos Var revealing his plan to free the catastrophic god Vol Karoth, a scheme that threatens humanity with annihilation. To prevent this outcome, Kihrin and his allies must persuade a reluctant king to perform an ancient ritual capable of imprisoning Vol Karoth once more, a rite that demands an enormous sacrifice from the immortal Vane people and drives some among them to consider assassination rather than accept the cost. Complicating matters further, Kihrin senses his own connection to Vol Karoth deepening as events unfold, raising the unsettling possibility that he himself could become as great a danger to the world as the god they are trying to contain, even as he and his companions race to stop Relos Var's plan before it is too late.
