Synopsis
The House of Always picks up A Chorus of Dragons in the aftermath of a costly, world-altering ritual meant to contain the god Vol Karoth, which has failed to stop Kihrin's enemies from advancing their plan to free the King of Demons. Even the Eight Immortals prove unable to halt this scheme, leaving Kihrin to devise his own countermeasure, a plan built around a central question the novel poses directly: what if you were imprisoned for all eternity? Kihrin's proposed strategy asks a heavy price of his allies, since his willingness to risk everything, including himself, may demand a sacrifice they are unwilling to make. The story follows Kihrin and his companions as they weigh whether they can save both the world and Kihrin himself, or whether events will force them to watch him slide toward becoming the very darkness they have fought throughout the series.
