Synopsis
Every two thousand years the dark star Oma rises, bringing catastrophe and granting fresh, unstable magic to those it touches. In the far north, invaders from a parallel world who wear the faces of the people they kill are annihilating whole cities of Saiduan. The pacifist Dhai, once enslaved by Saiduan, are courted as allies against the encroaching enemy. Across a world of blood mages, sentient plant life, and warring courts, an orphan hiding her own bloody past, an illegitimate ruler holding a fractured nation together, and a general torn between two peoples are all drawn toward a coming collision of worlds.
