Synopsis
Alex Schwartz, a former banker turned vampire who now works for the Laundry, is posted to Leeds and falls for Cassie, a student who is not what she seems. She is a scout for the alfar, the elves of a parallel Earth whose own world was ruined by civil war and who now intend to invade ours. When the elven host comes through and attacks the city, it proves formidable with magic but helpless against modern weapons. The invasion ends with Cassie as ruler of the surviving elves, and her first act is to surrender to the British army and ask for asylum.
