Synopsis

In the concluding volume of the Shiva Trilogy, Shiva learns from Brahaspati that Somras, a widely used manufactured potion, is the true cause of the environmental and social devastation spreading across the land, depleting the sacred Saraswati River and producing toxic waste that has triggered plagues in neighboring territories. Recognizing his role as the prophesied Neelkanth destined to destroy evil, Shiva declares open war on Meluha, the empire that manufactures Somras, and appeals to its citizens to abandon the substance. He faces fierce opposition from powerful figures who consider Somras beneficial, including Emperor Daksha, the Swadweepan emperor Dilipa, and the influential sage Bhrigu, while his own ally Parvateshwar, commander of Meluha's army, is torn between personal loyalty to Shiva and duty to his homeland. Shiva sets out to seek the legendary Vayuputras in a remote western land as he mobilizes allied kingdoms for the conflict ahead.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
