Synopsis

The Pirate King is the twenty-first novel in R.A. Salvatore's Legend of Drizzt line, picking up amid the search for the barbarian Wulfgar begun in earlier volumes. In the northern port of Luskan, piracy has flourished for years under the secret patronage of Arklem Greeth, a lich who commands the city's Hosttower of the Arcane. Captain Deudermont, long allied with Drizzt Do'Urden, resolves to end Greeth's hidden rule and restore honest governance, traveling to Waterdeep to plan the campaign with Lord Brambleberry. As Drizzt and the halfling Regis continue their own journey north in search of Wulfgar, they pass through Longsaddle and debate whether harsh justice can ever serve a greater good. Reaching Luskan, they meet Deudermont and join his effort against Greeth, though liberating the city risks tearing it apart in the process, a tension that runs through the unfolding conflict.
