Synopsis

Fifteen-year-old Wynter Moorehawke returns to court after five years away and finds her kingdom transformed: her father the King's Carpenter is failing, the dying King has grown fearful and unpredictable, and the court is riddled with fresh danger, where opposing him risks assassination, torture, or imprisonment. Wynter must decide whether to stay and submit to the King's will, or leave to help her friend Prince Razi and the mysterious Christopher Garron, who are trying to hold the fracturing kingdom together.
