Synopsis

The Prisoner's Throne continues directly from The Stolen Heir, finding Prince Oak in worse danger than before as the consequences of his and Wren's earlier journey catch up with him. With his situation growing increasingly precarious, Oak is determined to find a way out of the threats closing in on him, even as tensions between Wren's northern territory and the rest of Faerie continue to build toward crisis. The novel follows Oak navigating captivity, suspicion, and the fallout of his own deceptions, while the wider political order of Elfhame edges toward a confrontation that could draw in every court. As the storm gathers, Oak must decide how much of himself he is willing to reveal, and to whom, in order to protect the people and the realm he cares about.

Notes

  • From the series record (Novels of Elfhame): A direct continuation set in the same Elfhame court a few years later, following Oak (Jude's younger brother) and Suren/Wren; registered Core alongside the original trilogy as one continuous saga in the same world, not a separate universe.

Neighbouring works

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series Novels of Elfhame: position 2 of 2: previous The Stolen Heir (2023)
