Synopsis
In Megan Whalen Turner's sequel to The Thief, master thief Eugenides becomes entangled in a war between rival queens, forcing him into an uneasy and dangerous new role. Caught spying in the country of Attolia, Eugenides is captured and punished by its queen before being released, an experience that leaves him changed as he returns home to Eddis. With Eddis and Attolia drawn into open war while the neighboring country of Sounis maneuvers between them, Eugenides must find a way to protect his cousin, the Queen of Eddis, and her throne. He turns to quiet scheming behind a guarded exterior, working to give his small country an edge against its larger and more powerful neighbors.
