Synopsis
The Ragpicker King continues directly from Sword Catcher, following Kel as he goes undercover within the criminal network of the Ragpicker King, Castellane's shadow ruler of its underworld, to investigate a string of murders connected to the Shining Gallery and uncover a conspiracy targeting the city. Complicating his mission is his long-held love for Antonetta Alleyne, who is set to marry a man Kel considers dangerous. Meanwhile Lin Caster undergoes trials within the Ashkar community to determine whether she is the prophesied leader destined to guide her people through a coming conflict, even as she struggles with forbidden feelings for Conor Aurelian, Castellane's prince. The novel weaves Kel's undercover investigation and Lin's spiritual trial together as both confront the widening threat to Castellane and to the Ashkar's place within it.
