Synopsis
The opening novel of the Traitor Son Cycle unfolds in a world where an uneasy border separates the realms of ordinary men and women from the Wild, a country of monsters and fae creatures with its own claims and customs. The story follows the Red Knight, a young and highly capable mercenary captain whose company takes a contract to defend a fortified convent of nuns whose people have been killed by a wyvern. What is presented to the company as a straightforward monster-hunting job for coin soon proves to have far deeper roots, drawing the Red Knight and his soldiers into the wider, long-simmering tensions between the Wild and the kingdoms of men. The narrative follows numerous other points of view across the surrounding lands as the true scope of the danger becomes clear.
