Synopsis

In the second book of the Traitor Son Cycle, the political landscape shifts abruptly when the Emperor of Morea is taken hostage, throwing the empire into crisis. The Red Knight and his mercenary company, fresh from their defense of the convent, find themselves in unusually high demand as various factions seek to hire their swords. With the countryside sliding into open revolt and the imperial capital itself under siege, the company is drawn deep into a conflict far larger than any single contract, as old enemies and uneasy allies alike close in around them and any success will come at real cost.
