Synopsis

This graphic novel adapts the first book of The Kane Chronicles, following estranged siblings Carter and Sadie Kane after their father, an Egyptologist, brings them to the British Museum hoping to set right an old family matter. Instead, he accidentally releases the Egyptian god Set, who banishes him and sets the chaos god's schemes into motion. Thrust together after years spent living apart, the siblings discover they come from a line connected to an ancient magical order tied to the pharaohs, and that the gods of Egypt are stirring back to life around the world. Pursued by both Set and their own uncertain new abilities, Carter and Sadie must travel to unfamiliar places, uncover secrets about their family's past, and learn to work together to stop Set's plans before chaos overtakes the world. The visual adaptation keeps the focus on the siblings' fast-paced, globe-spanning adventure.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
