Synopsis

The House of Hades is the fourth book in The Heroes of Olympus series. With two of their companions trapped in the deadly underworld realm of Tartarus, the remaining Greek demigods Annabeth, Leo, Piper, Nico, and Percy join forces with Roman demigods Jason, Hazel, and Frank aboard their ship to race toward the Doors of Death, a passage linking the mortal world and the underworld that Gaea's forces of Giants intend to exploit. As the seven demigods journey across dangerous territory to reach the Doors from the mortal side, they must also contend with rising suspicion between Greek and Roman factions back at their camps, suspicion that threatens to erupt into open war between Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter if it is not defused in time. Both halves of the group know that success depends on reaching and sealing the Doors from opposite sides at once.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
