Synopsis
Althalus is a thief, liar, and outrageous braggart with no trace of honor to his name, the kind of man who has survived on his wits and his willingness to cheat anyone who trusts him. Everything changes when the Goddess Dweia enlists his help to save the world from her evil brother Daeva and Daeva's ruthless henchman, Ghend, whose schemes threaten to unravel the fabric of reality itself. Sent to steal a book from a mysterious House at the End of the World, a structure that exists somehow outside ordinary time, Althalus instead finds himself drawn into the house's service, befriending a sharp-tongued talking cat named Emmy and discovering that the book he was hired to steal is a source of power far greater, and far more dangerous, than any weapon he has ever wielded in his disreputable career.
