Synopsis
The Sacred Band, published by David Anthony Durham in 2011, concludes the Acacia trilogy. The Known World faces a new and unprecedented threat as invaders from the Other Lands begin marching south across the far north and down toward Acacia itself, forcing the scattered Akaran siblings back into a shared fight for survival. Queen Corinn, drawing on sorcery to strengthen her position by any means available, sends Mena north to lead a small force into brutal, arctic conditions for first contact with the invading army, while Dariel remains in the Other Lands confronting the chaos left behind after the Auldek abandoned the enslaved children they once held. As the ancient Santoth sorcerers break free of their long exile to add yet another threat to the widening conflict, the Akarans and their allies face a war unlike anything the family has previously endured.
