Synopsis
The Siege of Macindaw continues the Ranger's Apprentice series as Will and Horace return to the fief of Norgate to rescue their friend Alyss, a diplomatic courier who has been taken captive at Castle Macindaw by the rogue knight Sir Keren. With the castle firmly under Keren's control and its defenses well organized, a direct assault is not a realistic option, forcing Will and Horace to seek unconventional help. They enlist the aid of a band of Skandian raiders stranded nearby, whose fighting skill and knowledge of siege warfare could prove decisive if the group can find a way to work together despite old rivalries. As Will plans how to breach Macindaw's defenses and free Alyss without triggering open warfare, tensions rise both inside and outside the castle walls, testing the unlikely alliance he has assembled for the rescue.
