Synopsis
The second novel of the Fall of Shannara series picks up after the Druids have been eliminated and the fortress of Paranor itself has vanished, leaving the Four Lands exposed on multiple fronts. The Skaar, an invading people from a dying continent, arrive under the guise of diplomacy while secretly planning a full invasion in search of a new homeland, led by the calculating princess Ajin d'Amphere. Meanwhile Dar Leah, former commander of Paranor's guard, and Drisker Arc, the Druid trapped within the vanished fortress, work to counter the growing threats, Tarsha Kaynin continues her search for her dangerous brother Tavo, whose destructive wishsong magic remains a danger to all around him, and the treacherous Druid Clizia Porse, responsible for Paranor's disappearance, maneuvers among the shifting political alliances that the Skaar's arrival has thrown into disarray.
