Synopsis
The Song of Rhiannon is the third novel in Evangeline Walton's Mabinogion cycle, retelling the Third Branch of the Welsh Mabinogi. After the tragedies that closed the previous volume, Prince Pryderi returns to his homeland of Dyved together with Manawyddan, a survivor of Britain's ruling house who weds Pryderi's mother, the noblewoman Rhiannon; Pryderi's own wife Cigfa completes the small household. Their peace is shattered when a mysterious enchantment sweeps over Dyved, emptying the land of its people and animals and leaving the four survivors to fend for themselves through hunting, foraging, and craft in a realm turned to wasteland.
