Synopsis

Gin Blanco, the assassin known as the Spider, looks back on the night ten years earlier when she first fully became her alter ego. She had taken what seemed a simple job: killing a crooked building contractor tied to Mab Monroe, a Fire elemental. Her mentor, Fletcher Lane, had reservations, but Gin was confident she had everything under control. Then an opponent exploited her weaknesses. The night left a mark on her, and the story deals with how her arrogance shaped what followed. It is a prequel narrated from Gin's later perspective. The novel is the tenth book in Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin series, set in the city of Ashland.
