Synopsis
Set in Venice, The Thief Lord follows brothers Prosper, twelve, and Boniface, called Bo, five, who flee to the city after their mother's death rather than be separated by relatives who want only the younger boy. They are taken in by a band of other homeless children living in an abandoned cinema, led by a masked boy who calls himself Scipio, the self-proclaimed Thief Lord, who supports the group by selling goods stolen from wealthy Venetian homes. The gang, which also includes Hornet, Riccio, and Mosca, survives on Scipio's nerve and cunning even as a private detective named Victor Getz, hired by the boys' aunt and uncle, closes in on their hideout.
