Synopsis

The Tiger's Daughter is the first novel in K Arsenault Rivera's Their Bright Ascendency trilogy. It centers on two women, Shizuka, heir to an empire built on divine right, and Shefali, a warrior of the nomadic Qorin people, raised together from childhood across the border of two very different cultures despite the tensions and prejudices dividing their peoples. Written as a long letter from Shefali to Shizuka recounting their shared history, the novel follows their deepening, fated bond as they grow from children into young women whose destinies become entwined with each other's, tested when demons begin swarming out of the forests to threaten both their nations at once. Their friendship, and the connection between their two peoples, is put to its first real trial as the demonic threat grows too large for either nation to face alone.
