Synopsis

The third and final novel of the GameWorld Trilogy brings Kirin and Maya into direct confrontation with the gods who have long manipulated the world's heroes for their own amusement. The gods operate under a single binding rule: they cannot be defeated by their own creations, so Kirin and Maya must devise a plan so unconventional that even their own allies are unsure what they are doing. Their scheme takes them across the earth, sea, sky, infernal and celestial realms, aided by an eccentric and thoroughly unreliable chameleon guide, as they contend with monsters, shifting alliances and betrayals left over from the previous volumes. Continuing the story begun in The Simoqin Prophecies and continued in The Manticore's Secret, the book follows the heroes as they try to turn the gods' own game against them before the world itself is consumed by the conflict.

Notes

  • From the series record (GameWorld Trilogy): Complete three-book trilogy by Samit Basu, published by Penguin India (2004-2007); a satirical high-fantasy saga drawing on Indian and world mythology and genre tropes. Written in English from the start; not a translation.
