Synopsis
The Vagrant is the first novel in Peter Newman's Vagrant Trilogy, published in 2015. Years after a catastrophic Breach unleashed demonic forces that nearly destroyed humanity, a mute wanderer known only as the Vagrant crosses a devastated, war-torn landscape. He carries an infant girl in his arms and is followed by a goat, his only companions on a journey whose destination he never explains. He carries a sword called the Malice, a weapon of immense power that may turn the tide against the forces still loyal to the Usurper behind the Breach. Told partly through flashbacks to his earlier life, the novel follows his perilous trek across a ruined realm, protecting the child and the sword from those, human and demon alike, who would take it from him.
