Synopsis
Unlike the novels and short-story anthologies in the Valdemar series, this book is a nonfiction reader's companion compiled for fans of Mercedes Lackey's world. It gathers reference material meant to help readers navigate the setting in depth, including interviews with Lackey and her editor, a travelers' guide to the kingdom's geography, a concordance of names and places used across the series, and a discography of Valdemar-inspired music. Alongside this reference content, the volume also includes one original novella by Lackey herself, giving it a foothold on anthology lists even though its primary purpose is educational rather than narrative. It functions as a guidebook for understanding the Heralds, their Companions, and the wider world, rather than telling a self-contained story of its own.
