Synopsis

The Verdant Passage, published by Troy Denning in 1991, opens the Prism Pentad in the desert world of Athas, centered on the city-state of Tyr under the rule of Kalak, a malevolent sorcerer-king who has held power for centuries and is now pursuing a ritual meant to transform himself into an immortal dragon. A diverse group of adventurers, drawn together by circumstance rather than shared purpose and each nursing their own grievances against Kalak's tyranny, find themselves pushed toward uniting against him despite their conflicting personal goals and deep mutual distrust. As the group is pulled deeper into Tyr's underworld of slavers, templars, and hidden resistance, their fragile, uneasy alliance becomes the city's best and perhaps only chance of surviving Kalak's final, world-altering ambitions.

  • From the series record (The Prism Pentad): A five-book tie-in fantasy sequence (1991-1993) set in the desert world of the Dark Sun tabletop setting, by the same author already credited elsewhere in this catalogue for a different tie-in setting.
