Synopsis

The Crimson Legion, published by Troy Denning in 1992, continues the Prism Pentad after The Verdant Passage. Rikus, a formidable warrior forged by years spent fighting in Athas's brutal gladiatorial arenas, sets out to assemble an unconventional fighting force capable of challenging the sorcerer-kings whose rule has dominated the desert cities of Athas for millennia. Their dominion has entrenched widespread slavery and moral decay across the region, and Rikus draws on his own combat skill and hard-won reputation to recruit a motley band willing to stand against rulers most people consider untouchable. As Rikus's makeshift legion takes shape, the group must weigh the near-impossible odds of confronting entrenched sorcerous tyranny against the growing conviction that Athas cannot go on living under it.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Prism Pentad): A five-book tie-in fantasy sequence (1991-1993) set in the desert world of the Dark Sun tabletop setting, by the same author already credited elsewhere in this catalogue for a different tie-in setting.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
