Synopsis
Cry Mountain gets its name from a mysterious wailing that comes from its slopes. People who have gone up to find the source have not come back. John, the wandering balladeer with a silver-stringed guitar, hears of the mountain and goes to learn what is crying there. He is drawn into a struggle against a warlock of very great power who intends to reshape the world to his own design, beginning with a killing on a large scale. John has to rely on his folk knowledge, his courage and his music against a threat that is larger than any he has faced in the hills before. This is the last of the novels about him.
